Sow directly in the garden as early as the soil can be made fine and loose. Plant seeds every 2 inches, covering firmly with soil. Thin to 1 plant every 12 inches when seedlings are 2 inches tall. Harvest the entire head at maturity.

"Love a good iceberg lettuce! So these are supposed to be started May to July so we just sowed ours directly into the soil. So now we wait about 62 days for them to be ready . "Unfortunately I couldn't get a photo before a local rabbit decided to steal it. I'll have to try again during late summer/early fall as it's much too warm now. Honestly, I'm surprised I managed to get it to germinate as the heat hit us early this year. I wish this campaign had begun earlier in the season.
